Track Record

My whole childhood in southern Michigan, my family went to Cedar Point. The first year I was tall enough to start riding, Blue Streak was my first roller coaster, and Corkscrew was my first upside down coaster. My parents spent that trip taking turns riding things with me, mostly so Dad could recover from my enjoyment of spinning rides.

Unfortunately, I got vertigo when I was in my early twenties, and I religiously avoided roller coasters for a long time, mostly because I didn’t want to spend that much money on park tickets only to find out I could no longer ride coasters.

Until I met my now-husband, who travels to parks all over the country with friends who travel to parks all over the world to ride roller coasters.

We decided to go to King’s Island for the Haunts in October of the first year we were together, and that way if it turned out I couldn’t ride because of my vertigo, we could still enjoy the haunted attractions and other Halloweeny things. Thankfully, after a ride on the swings, I felt confident enough to try a coaster, and when I didn’t have any problems with my vertigo, he made it his mission to get me on as many roller coasters as possible.

I’m now over 200 individual roller coasters!
